This is really a handy feature to get your website or blog on the web. To get noticed it is handy to appear in google search results. For good results you have to add:

-Sitemap

-Robot.txt

With this feature you can see how the big google-search-engine is seeing your website. If there are errors you'll see it.

If everything is allright you can check stats, how many sites have links to your site etc. If you don't have a sitemap and a robot.txt file get this free service!
