After opening of WWEC 2009 in Latvia, second round of Winter Windsurf European Cup 2009 already this weekend form 9th to 11th of January in Finland, Lappeenranta city.

During this winter season WWEC 2009 is going to be the biggest celebration of all winter windsurfing community, creating new tradition and promoting winter windsurfing to the level it has rapidly grown during last years – professional sports and progressive outdoor activity for everyone.

WWEC 2009 internationally is organized and managed by www.winterwindsurf.com and local authorities in each country, where event will be held. WWEC 2009 is going to happen in 8 different countries from January to March 2009. There are WWEC 2009 rules, calendar, and all other information published in www.winterwindsurf.com – official website of WWEC 2009.

Winners of the first serie WWEC 2009 go hi! in Latvia – Janis Preiss (Latvia) in slalom overall and Aleksandrs Leontjevs (Latvia) in course racing overall, receiving brand new PC`s „Gauja” from sponsors Capital.

Second WWEC 2009 round in Finland – WWEC 2009 go Saimaa! – is locally organized by Lappeenrannan Pursiseura Surffijaos (Surf department of Lappeenranta Yacht Club, LrPS) and supported by goSaimaa.fi, Hiberna and Rautio Sports.  

Friday (9th of January) – winter windsurfing test day – is dedicated for all enthusiasts, surfers and anyone interested to try new and exciting outdoor activity. All day long limited amount of boards and rigs will be available for testing, provided by WWEC 2009 sponsors Hiberna and Rautio Sports. Saturday and Sunday – both are competition days in course racing and slalom discipline. Be sure – some freestyle elements will be also shown during the event, as nowadays winter windsurfing boards provide possibility to perform high level freestyle tricks.
