12th of July I will go together with friends to South-France, Leucate for 3 weeks. We are going for good wind, nice temprature & more.
Now I don't know much about the speedspots over there????? What are good spots, all my travelmates are freestyle/freeride/wave orientated... So some speedcompany would also be appreciated.
Also check out the latest gear in FOR SALE, I really like to sell some before the holiday!

You must come to Portugal, and try Sagres and Lagos, nice wind, good weather and at night lots of fun.
ReplyDeleteWow just checked it on Google maps, looks great! Is there also a speedspot, or a spot with high speedpotential?
ReplyDeleteHi Erik, I'm on the same mission as you. I have been down in the south for the last few weeks and have had some good sessions.
ReplyDeleteHopefully the tramontana will blow for you when you are here. Spots to look out for are Gruissan which is better than Leaucate imo. Then there is st marie where the canal is. The beach has some great slalom sailing and i belive i had my best nautical mile there. (i will have to check) For wind and bump and jump try the bay of roses for thermal winds.
i think the wind will start kicking in on monday so i may see you around the local speed spots.
cheers
Simon
Hi Simon,
ReplyDeleteIt would be a lot of fun to have a group of speedsurfers. I spoke with my travelmate Danny, we will drive 18&19th July to Leucate. Soooo the 20th I will be speeding if the wind allows.
see you in France!
Hi Eric,
ReplyDeleteThe best speed spot near Leucate is les Coussoules. Unfortunately, they closed the acces to the beach so you have to sail up there from la Franqui or drive up to Port la Nouvelle and start from Plage Sud. Another spot you can try is Teleski. With the tramontane there is a part north of the "Teleski" that stay relatively flat. In only surfed there during winter so I don't know if during summer there are a lot of algue (at some places at for instance the Etang de Leucate it can be horrible during summer) Gruissan is more a slalom spot as the wind orientation is often not good for speed. You can however make very long runs parallel at the beach. When you like to move a little around or when the wind is too strong in Leucate/Gruissan you can try Les Aresguiers (Etang d'Ingril) near Frontignan. Also a nice spot for your fellow freestylers as you have feet all around the etang. I will be working during the week but in the weekends there would be the opportunity to keep you company.
Cheers,
Nico
