I haven't taken any measurements yet, but the new X9 boom looks a lot less wide than previous 160-210. I am talking about the distance between the 2 bars. I don't know if the extreme deep profile fits in this small boom, with the older and wider boom was haning in the boom till the harnasslines. With the new boom the sail hangs even further in the boom, does this not damage anything???
To be sure I chose to order a 180-230 boom next to the 160-220. We will see how this will work out, maybe my favorite boom will be 180-230 from now on.........

i think the 160 boom is a little more freestyle/wave orientate. and most freestyle and wave sails don't have a super deep profile like a np race sail.

HI Thijs,
You got a nice website, with very good pictures and good moves throwing around!!!
You will be happy with the new X9 shape, I have to experience if this new shape works.........
The described problem is a general problem. I think beside the stability this is one of the reasons why many pros are using a boom which isn't from their sponsor.
I tried a gaastra boom 2 years ago and this one was too small even on my Blades which have not such a deep profile like the NP sails.
Hi Eric,
I have compared the 2010 X6 with the 2009 X6 and it is about 60mm narrower per side!!! About 120mm in total. Needless to say I returned it. I think the 180+ have the wide tail in x9 and shouldn't have a problem.
