Craig Hollins AKA kato does 553,5km distance in 24hours

I just read on the gpsteamchallenge site Craig Hollins did the most distance ever on a windsurfer in 24h (in the gpsteamchallenge). http://gpsteamchallenge.com.au/sailor_session/show?date=2010-11-30&team=16

Not normal this is a great performance. Craig used his Carbon Art Slalom 52 and a few KA Koncept sails. Check out the link for photos and other info.

  1. He is saying;
    'I think that it is possible to do a 600km and at 7pm I had 400+ and I tend to ave 33k per hr and a session, but our friends the Dutch are very good at distance stuff and with 20 hrs of daylight they could do an 800hr 24hr. So hurry up Dave lets make it hard for them.'

    His max hour distance that 553km was 40km.
    (what isn't high for such distance)
    Some dutch guys can truely beat this distance.
    To bad we haven't got those good constant conditions they have in Australia....

    We should send some guys to that place! ^^

    Yet I have big respect for Craig!

  2. Big respect for Craig!!

    Next year I will try to do something close to that distance. I tried windsurfing at night allready :) and it worked out not too bad, derigging at night is worse than windsurfing at night (my conclusion)

    Remember we have very very limited days with wind longer than 5-6 hours...
