German speedchannel in the making

Finally the channel will be ready this season, a topsecret project for many years. Dimensions 2100m long and 150m wide, curved course. It will be great to have a speedspot without tidal problem and free to use. Manfred Merle and Thomas Doublin claim the record will be back this year.

This is what I call a large scale speed project and dedication, I love it !
May the construction go smoothly and lay the foundation for many a record.
The wider canal = more chop/swell at broader angles, but it's safer and necessary to beat back upwind. It depends on how extreme you want to go.

Kiters might not be welcome, so I'll have to dust off my windsurfing kit to stand a chance ;)
130,000 Euro is a big outlay, so I understand if it's closely guarded, but why not charge a fee per day to recover the costs, but open it to those that can push the limits when it's nuking to see what the canal is really capable of.; April 09, 2011
