I putted the distance on display and thanks to the flat water it was easy to check. The first 100km were going slow, I even took a brake at 90km. After this till 220km it went very fast, thanks to 30min of good wind which made it interesting (with my gear tweaked for lightwinds)
The last 30km were going superslow for my feeling, at 245km I was thinking ooh a few seconds and it all will be over. But than realized a few seconds later 5km it quite some distance (to walk for example)...
One little note for next time, a bigger sailsize would make distance much easier. For speed I even doubt if the 7.0 would be slower. Also put the SD-card in the GPS before sailing is much handier. Never had problems in the past (when I forgot the SD), maybe its the new firmware, or maybe I never noticed missing a part of the session ;)??
Happy with the results:
- New 1 hour record
- New distance record
- 2nd place in the dayranking
- fastest 2sec/10sec/mile/hour/alpha of the day
Respect!
ReplyDeleteAHA, I was not sure that you were the long-distance speeder.
ReplyDeleteIt was indeed the perfect day to perform a long distance session. When I left the water I was surprised to see 82km on my gps. I should have focused also on long-distance, because it was really the chance to do a 150km day.
A really nice out-of-the-office day for me!
Maybe monday a new change? ;-)
I did 123 km myself on the same spot/same day. cant believe you did twice as much!
ReplyDeleteI saw you on the water; I thought you were doing a 1 hour attempt, like I did. Respect for the distance but also the one hour... Cheers, Luc Salomons
ReplyDeleteThanks for all these responses!! I made the right choise to do a trip to Strand Horst, thanks to Hans Kleingeld who confirmed my feeling about the wind. It is strange but possible, sometimes there is more wind at strand horst than at spots near the sea ;)
ReplyDeleteThe session results are not normal, couldn't believe it was this fast compared to others. It felt fast for a short period, but most of the time for lets say 5 hours I was underpowered.
